Home Renovation HORROR STORES from the dark side of the industry.
Every once in awhile I get a call from a customer asking if I can fix the work of another contractor.
Some of the workmanship I've seen over the years leaves alot to be desired but the worse case I ever encountered was from a local contractor and I give him "THE WORST CONTRACT EVER" award.
The homeowner had a beautiful home and wanted the staircase railings renovated. Upon arriving at her home, I was in shock. The homeowner was beside herself and for very good reason.
How it ever got this far is beyond me but the contractor kept telling the homeowner "everything will be fine when we finish".
Here are the pictures I took. The picture quality is poor as they were taken from my cell phone but there's no mistaking the horrific workmanship by this local contractor. I won't mention any names but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE - when doing home renovations, get references or a referral from someone you know. You need a qualified railing professional when doing your railings and most home improvements.
The homeowner ended up having to sue the contractor and I am sure she won and hope in the end she was successful in getting her money back from the contractor.
This was one of two jobs I have seen done by this contractor. On another job, the whole job was horrific. They only used 4 drywall screws to fasten the supporting post to the floor and had rubbed paint on the materials, wiped it off and then laquered over the paint. The homeowner in this case was out of town and when he returned, he was horrified AND he sued. I haven't seen this contractors vehicle around for awhile and I hope they have found work in another field.
